Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but fragile characters, is one of the most well-known American actors of the present. She was raised by an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Her interest in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her famous father. She studied acting through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway soon after graduation, she made her debut in film within two years, and then on television within a year. Her appearances have been on a variety of shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. She's been nominated for three Tony Awards, three Academy Awards, five Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her professional career. Although she received many awards through the years, performing is always her main passion.
