April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July. She began piano and guitar lessons from age seven. The passion for creating songs was sparked. When she was 12 years old, April wrote her first song Different. At 14 old, she spent long hours creating song ideas and perfecting her music. After a while, she began to go on trips with her dad and write either in NY or LA. April featured other topics in her hit song, Take my Hand. These topics were for friends that dealt with issues such as peer pressure disabilities or even teen suicidal ideas. Lockhart also has an ever-growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger as well as a spokesperson for the popular clean beauty company Ilia. As a woman born with no left hand, the woman is an important part of herself. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't just focus on the issue. The point? This is the message: We all have many identities, we're way more diverse than we think we are. Lockhart stated in a video interview that she does not want to be defined by her disability. She does not want to be a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are many aspects of Lockhart. This doesn't influence my day-to-day routine. I go about doing my job as normal and have come up with my own ways to adapt. But, I consider it to be a vital part of myself. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart is a true inspiration on that front. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of insecurity with her body, and also feeling uncomfortable in certain clothes that exposed her arms. Nowadays, she dresses anything she likes and uploads pictures of herself in these outfits on social media with pride. Self-love, she says is a journey. It's not clear whether you'll get to the point of no return. However, I believe that's the case for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety. It's my opinion that having those around you who really know you and see your feelings is crucial since they'll be those that remind you of what are you worried about?
