Bush will be the fourth U.S. President. Bush has nominated Cheney for his vice presidential running mate in July 2001. Bush cited Cheney's wisdom, judgment, and experience. Dick Cheney is a former chief of staff to the President. He also was a member of Congress, and he was Secretary of Defense. Cheney is a man with integrity who is respected by Republicans and Democrats. Cheney says the position he will play within the administration as one of a frank but discreet advisor to Bush. Cheney declared his delight at accepting the Republican vice-presidential nomination. He stated that Cheney is eager to work with a person who is able to work together with people of differing political opinions and who share common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney is the son Richard Herbert Cheney of the late Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. He was born on January 30, 1941 within Lincoln Nebraska. The family moved to Casper, Wyoming with his family when he was 13. He was raised by his father who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and directed the soil conservation district in Casper.
